
Parents learn the techniques to keep their infant comfortable and safe in the water. With nursery rhymes, toys, and games, children begin their aquatic voyage. Skills: blowing bubbles, getting the face wet, scooping water, supported front and back floats with kicking, holding the wall, and assisted pool exits. Parent in the water. Class size up to 6. 30 minutes.

Parents stay in the water while the toddler gains confidence working with the instructor. Children about 2½ who can sit on the steps and take direction independently should move up to Starfish. Skills: sitting on the steps and following directions, blowing bubbles, face in the water, front and back floats, kicking on the back, holding the wall, and climbing out unassisted.
