
The first independent class. Swimmers work with the instructor without a parent in the water. They should sit on the steps while waiting their turn and take direction. Skills: scooping arms, flutter kicks, combined scooping and kicking, full-face bubbles, front and back floats, jumping in and returning to the wall, beginning treading, elementary backstroke, and swimming about 10 yards with little assistance. Class size up to 4. 30 minutes. Intro class available.

Intermediate elementary. Swimmers work unaided on simultaneous and alternating arm and leg movements and begin proper stroke technique. Skills: flutter kick, freestyle with side breathing, elementary backstroke, backstroke, rollovers and glides, beginner breaststroke, introduction to butterfly, and treading water. Class size up to 4. 30 minutes.
