Weymouth Youth Track Club is in its 19th year. We are a fun, effective introduction to, or continuation of, track and field for kids of all ages. Whether beginner or seasoned veteran, your athlete will love what we do! We practice at the Ed Meehan Track and Field facility at Weymouth High School, a 6-lane track completed in 2015, with jumping and throwing areas. Alumni have gone on to high school and college. Many come back to coach, and numerous members have competed in NCAA Division I, II, and III. A typical practice runs from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. A parent or adult signs the athlete in. Then a warm-up, two event sessions, a team stretch, and sign-out. Events include sprints and relays, middle distance, hurdles (as low as 6 inches), long jump, turbo javelin, shot put for ages 7 and up, and softball throw for ages 4 to 6. Practice groups are 4–5, 6–7, 8–9, 10–11, and 12–14. The summer program welcomes ages 3–15. Meets are usually one at home against Norwell and one away at Norwell. Parents provide transportation to away meets. Athletes are encouraged to enter 2 running events and 2 field events. Every athlete receives a Weymouth Youth Track Club t-shirt. Weymouth High School students volunteer as coaches.
