Art After School – Fall 2026 Ages: 9-14 Time: TUESDAYS 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM Location: Lander Art Center Instructor: Miss Sipe Unearth your creativity and explore a world of artistic techniques with our "Art After School" program at the Lander Art Center! Designed for students aged 9 and up on Tuesdays, this engaging class offers a diverse curriculum that spans a variety of mediums and themes throughout the school year. Each month brings a new artistic adventure, guided by Guided by Wyoming PTSB-certified Art Educator Pam Sipe, these classes go beyond arts and crafts—this is real arts education. What You'll Explore: • October: Drawing and Sketching From "Real Life" and Photo Files Dive into drawing with pencils, inks, and waxed crayons. You'll even create Scratch-Art featuring a "Saltwater Marine Creature" of your choice! • November: Painting with Watercolors Discover the magic of watercolors! Learn various techniques, including using salt, masking fluid, and removable tape to achieve stunning effects and add intricate details. • December: Painting with Acrylics on Canvas Boards & Paper Experiment with acrylics as you select "2 different Subjects" from photo files or personal photos to paint. Develop your color mixing skills and bring your chosen subjects to life. Important Dates: • Thanksgiving Break: November 25, 26, 27, 2026 • Christmas Break: December 21, 2026 – January 4, 2027 Join us for a year of artistic discovery, skill-building, and imaginative expression! What you'll learn • Observational Drawing: Learning to accurately draw from real life and photos. • Diverse Medium Application: Gaining experience with pencils, inks, crayons, watercolors, acrylics, clay, felt, and mixed media. • Painting Techniques: Mastering specific methods for watercolor (salt, masking fluid) and acrylics (color mixing, application). • Color Theory: Understanding how to mix and use colors effectively. • Texturing: Exploring ways to create different visual and tactile surfaces in art. • 3D Art Creation: Building sculptures and forms using materials like paper-mâché and felt. • Pattern Design: Creating and applying patterns in various art projects. • Imaginative Design: Developing creative concepts and designs for projects like book covers. • Visual Storytelling: Using art to communicate narratives and ideas. • Creative Problem-Solving: Learning to overcome artistic challenges and find unique solutions. • Fine Motor Skills: Improving dexterity and hand-eye coordination through hands-on activities. • Independent Work: Practicing following instructions and developing personal artistic choices
