Clay Studio: Open Hours & Skill Building Studio time for anyone who wants it. Pay by the visit or with a punch pass. Whether you are a total beginner curious about the potter’s wheel or a seasoned maker looking for dedicated time to create alongside fellow artists, this is your space. Open Studio Hours • Tuesday: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM • Wednesday: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM • Thursday: 2:00 PM – 6:30 PM • Friday: 2:00 PM – 6:30 PM • Saturday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Note: Classes and LAC events occasionally reserve the studio space. Please check the community calendar before visiting.) Wednesday Evening: Skill Building & Studio Orientation Wednesdays | 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM A knowledgeable, encouraging clay instructor is on hand every Wednesday evening to guide you, answer questions, and share tips and tricks. Drop in for a single session to get your hands dirty, or grab a punch pass and make it your weekly creative ritual. Thinking about renting a shelf? Wednesday evening is the best first step. You will get a full tour of the studio and learn how everything works. Rates & Materials • Drop-In Visit: $15 per session • 5-Visit Punch Pass: $60 (Valid for one full year from purchase; usable for any open studio session or Wednesday evening skill-building) • Clay: Recycled community clay is included with admission when available. New clay is available for purchase on site. • Monthly Shelf Renters: Enjoy personal door-code access from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, 7 days a week. Ages: 2 to 5 Time: Fridays, 2-3pm Location: Lander Art Center Instructor: Heather Huberty Little hands are built to squeeze clay, brush paint across big sheets of paper, and find out what happens when colors mix together. Mommy & Me gives children ages 2 to 5 a dedicated space to try out real art materials without worrying about getting things right or making a mess at home. For the comfort of you and the children, caregivers are required to attend and stay for the entire class. Heather Huberty guides young artists through open-ended projects in clay, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Each session encourages students to experiment freely, building hand strength and coordination while sharing a creative morning with others. Questions before you register? Total class size is limited to 6 students, and all materials are provided. Our classes use self-selected pricing. At checkout you choose one of three rates. Standard Cost is our regular tuition. Neighborly Rate is lower, for when a reduced price helps you take part. Pay it Forward Price is higher, and the difference helps cover the Neighborly Rate across everything we teach, including kids' classes and summer camps. No application and no explanation needed. Class Requirements • No prior experience necessary! • Caregiver attendance policy: adult supervision is required for the whole session. • All materials provided by Lander Art Center. What You'll Learn • Color Exploration: Mixing primary paints together to see how new shades and tones are made. • Line and Shape: Using brushes, crayons, and stamps to mark paper and explore boundaries. • Clay Play: Squeezing, pinching, and rolling soft clay to develop hand strength and form simple shapes. • Printmaking: Pressing textured objects and foam stamps to create repeating patterns. • Fine Motor Skills: Practicing hand-eye coordination through gripping tools, tearing paper, and manipulating materials. • Creative Confidence: Trying new processes freely with an emphasis on open exploration rather than a finished product. What To Bring • All materials provided by Lander Art Center. • Snacks and a water bottle. • Clothing that can get messy with paint, glue, and clay. • Curiosity and an openness to explore. Class Cancellation Policy Refunds are given up to one week prior to class, unless a class is cancelled due to enrollment. You may transfer your registration fee to another class if the cancellation is made within 48 hours of the class start date/time.
